Debt Free World?

The G8 has declared debt relief for up to as many as 40 countries. Evidently the IMF found several billion dollars laying around from gold sales in the 90's to help fund this dept relief. The new president of the World Bank, Paul Wolfowitz, seems to be behind the UK's G8 agenda. Many hard hit countries torn apart by civil war can benifit from this relief. Of course they have to actually take the right action in order to move out of their presently bad situation. It seems that this debt relief may offer some an escape to their ruined economy. However I am a skeptic whenever I hear the IMF and the World Bank are involved especially with Wolfowitz at the helm. It also seems that the continual pressure on finance ministers by churches, campaign groups and the public have spured this thing on. This gives me some sense of hope yet I am leery of coruption.we will see how this turns out.

Ahh yes, the corruption is always present. Debt relief with enforced liberalisation and privatisation. I almost fell for it. The wealthy countries are trying to set up this relief package as if they had no hand in the creation of the poverty. Coming to the rescue of poor countries who can't pay their bills. Never mind the fact that some of these poor counties have been forced to follow neoliberal policies by these wealthy nations. The G8 is just another way to push the agenda of the "faith based" wealthy countries.
